    Press them on it. If they refuse just get it in email. Then contact toyota corporate... they'll see to it you get the 750.

    My kids will start driving soon and we need a second Prime. I have been calling Toyota dealerships around my area (Orange County, CA). The average markup for a Prime is roughly 5k. At this point, buying out of state is really appealing. Anybody knows of a no-markup dealership in the US? Thanks!

    Insisted via email and they did find the updated form, signed paperwork yesterday evening and got it today! Still had a dealer markup (got them down to $1250 over MSRP), but even with that and the 1500 + 750 from the toyota cash/uber rebate and $4502 federal EV credit and the generous $32.1k from the carvana sale for last year's Limited it's still in the net positive range... just amazing how many times I've done this already, haha, being in NH makes it doable given no sales tax :) Usually it was crazy dealer discounts, now it was insane trade-in value.

    On top of that, NFCU still has the $200 refinance bonus, so that makes it even sweeter.

    I wasn't sold on the titanium glow color, but once I saw it in person it looked even nicer than the silver.

    Officially sold my '21 XLE to Driveway for $29k. I had gotten a better offer from Vroom but read a lot of horror stories about selling to them so I decided to go with Driveway and the experience was excellent. There was a slight delay in the beginning getting the paperwork from them as they had a backlog, but once it was received about a week later things progressed very quickly. As soon as they received my signed docs they send ACH payment to my account and paid off my lien. Vehicle was picked up a few days later.

    Now my search for a replacement has not gone so well. I had an offer to purchase a '22 LE from a local-ish dealer for a $2k markup which I declined. I wasn't due to arrive until after the March rebate period so they couldn't guarantee the $1500 factory rebate (which has since been extended) so I passed. Most dealers I contact either won't sell to out of market buyers or have $5k markups.

    So, Driveway handled the payoff of your lien first and then the vehicle was picked up after the payment to you and to the lien account were made?

    I am thinking to sell my 2021 PP sometime this year if I find a replacement car to purchase. Driveway offer was the highest, at least that was the case ~2mo ago when I last checked. I sold my 2020 PP to Carvana, and it was a breeze. I would do it again if their offer is higher but it wasn't. One thing I have concerns about is the way they handle the lien payoff. On my 2020 PP sale to Carvana, I paid off the lien myself before I sold it to Carvana. So, I had the title to hand to the driver when they picked up the car. With the lien still standing, I wouldn't have the title when the car was picked up. I didn't know how they would have handled that situation.

    I personally do not want to have the car picked up without making sure that the lien is paid off. Sound like Driveway does it right such that they pay you and pay off the lien before the car is picked up. If that is the case, then I really like that.

    Yes, that was the case and the reason I went with them over Vroom/Carvana. I heard stories of people having to make extra payments on their loans after the vehicle was picked up because the lien had not been paid off. Only issue I have run into is I did make an extra payment from the time I got the original offer and payoff from the bank to when they sent the payment, so I am still owed about $400, but they assured me that it would be sent as soon as they received the title from the bank. I'm not to worried about it as they have been very responsive and obviously put a lot of trust in me by sending me and the bank payment before they even saw the vehicle.

    Now as far as finding a new car...no luck. I could just pay the markup but I'm not in the habit of rewarding that kind of behavior. I think I would buy used before I pay that kind of markup, but who knows. If I got a decent enough offer I would consider it. Has anyone had any luck recently getting quotes on vehicles at or near MSRP with delivery in the next month or so?

    Yeah, I made a paid reservation for the upcoming Subaru Solterra. But no word on the final price or actual availability yet. The reservation is fully refundable and is not guaranteed. Even if it becomes available for me to purchase, the final decision will depend on the price and the car I will test drive. Marked up price way higher than what I anticipated will be a deal-breaker. I can't sell my current 2021 PP until I know I can get a replacement for it, even though I know its value is likely to decline from the peak a few months ago.

    It was a bad idea to sell your car without getting a new one.

    These days you need to place an order with the dealer and then wait for about six months to get a new car.

    It's probably better to trade in your car than to use those online services so that you can better negotiate the markup—markup for the new-car price ≤ markup for your trade-in price.

    Seeing as I own three other vehicles, I'd say that taking a $9k+ profit on a car I owned for 10 months was a pretty good idea. I would say that paying a huge markup on the same vehicle I got a huge discount on last year is a pretty bad idea. What is a good for one person can be a bad for another. I wouldn't paint in such broad strokes if I were you.

    I'm not a "new car" kind of person. I like to buy cars that are near the bottom of the depreciation curve and yet still have a lot of life left. I do all my own maintenance and repairs and have no interest in keeping up with the Joneses next door. While I thoroughly enjoyed my time in the Prius Prime, I was reminded of why I don't like to own new vehicles. The constant worry that I might scratch it or damage it in some way negates any "new car smell" appeal.

    I agree. I contemplated going BEV for my next vehicle, but I think we are still a few years away from having BEVs that can compete with ICE and PHEV vehicles in the real world. My biggest issues are range, price and charging infrastructure, which I think the next cycle of electric vehicles will probably solve. I believe the Mach-e, Ionic 5/EV6, bZ4x/Solterra are all steps in the right direction.

    I could certainly use this help too.

    My go-to dealership (Carson) had did me right for the past 3 Prius, but getting one now is impossible. I was hoping Dianne had some better news but she straight up said I have zero chance. Plus, every other dealership says they have a minimum $5k "market adjustment".

    If anyone has a lead on a 2022 White Prius Prime XLE, I'd be eternally grateful!

    Well I really lucked out after owning my car for 2 years. I sold my 2020 Prius Prime XLE for $30,500 with 26,000 miles. I had my car listed on Facebook marketplace for awhile and consistently checked rates with KBB, Carvana, Vroom, and local dealers. It was crazy to see how much the price they offered changed from week to week with Carvana going from 30,250, to 26,000 back to 30,250 right before I sold. I was contacted by a dealership out of Dallas that flew up, offered me cash at my local bank, and signed the title over.

    I was able to order a 2022 Prius Prime LE from Luv Toyota in Lakewood, NY. I worked with Errik Gordon and have been happy so far. My car left Japan on April 19th and should be delivered within a few weeks. The only mark up is $900+ for an environmental package. They have two vehicles left to order - both Blue Magnetism XLE and LE. Please give him my name if you call. I will post the full price breakdown once I sign, buy, and leave the dealership.

    I got my 21 Prime from Dianne also, she gave me a great deal. This was right before the crazyiness happened. Got the Prime out the door about 25k before the Fed tax credits. I'm trying to figure why some of you guys are trading '21 Prime to '22, free upgrade i guess ? yes you are getting more for your '21 Prime but then you are paying sticker + for '22 assuming you find one with low markup.

    We first bought a PP in late 2019 - Dianne didn't have that great of pricing; did much better by emailing a few different dealers.

    $4502 tax credit can let people actually make $ on a trade in to a new vehicle. Resets the mileage, the tire life, the free service, etc. Plus some people are lucky enough to also get state/local/utility rebates/incentives on top of the federal tax credit. PHEV swapping can be quite lucrative. Also $1500 Toyota cash in some markets. $750 Uber incentive possibly. Deals can still be had!
    If you can get one at MSRP, the inflated trade in / sale value of a current PP can definitely make it a great deal.

    Just bought an XLE yesterday from upstate NY for MSRP minus the 1500 NY incentive. Had to wait like 2 months and luckily called the dealership the day they got a new allocation. Seems like some dealerships don't have a unified policy on out-of-state markups, with some salesmen saying 5K and a few doing MSRP. Good luck to everyone trying to buy one of these before the tax credit starts phasing out!
