2008 195k miles original hybrid battery, probably on 2nd or 3rd 12V battery.

And "HA!" to all the naysayers in 2007-8 that said I'd be stuck paying thousands to replace it.

Ironically there are many PC forum experts who tell newbie posters not to buy a Prius because of its high maintenance costs even though the e parts have one or more Prius’s. Never understood that. Eventually my Prius will fail and I’ll scrap it but until then I have to say that it’s an amazing piece of engineering and a very well built automobile. Millions sold over the past 20 years and most still on the road. Just wish it had a front seat hatch release. Will get to that this year, hopefully on mine. Have to anyway since I need to replace the gooey rear hatch switch cover.

2005 with 240,000 miles. I’ve not done anything to it but change the oil and tires. And of course the head lamps. Still runs great.

both starting to show symptoms...but both are in Colorado where cooler and dry seems to have helped battery life a bit.

UK 2008 Tspirit; now at 138,250 miles. Original Traction Battery, replaced the 12v in 2014 - still going strong in 2022. Presently 66.0 mpg (UK) on the MFD using E5 Super Unleaded. Getting much less with E10 fuel. Daily driver with 170 mile commute per week. The “Spaceship” is still going strong - totally in love with this over engineered piece of astounding automobile technology.

I left out located in San Diego, only driving out of SoCal once for a 3 day Las Vegas trip.

I might be moving to Tx and selling her in the next 2-4 months if my daughter doesn't want her

What does the "deep cycling/reconditioning involve? Is it a software solution or does it involve physically opening the HV battery?

228,000miles, 15 years on original hybrid battery, then had a module failure. Replaced the failed module and it appears to be back to normal (been 2 weeks so far)

I'm the 5th owner of the car (2 dealers in between 3 real "owners"), and Carfax report and dealer indicates that the previous owner drove it down from Minnesota to Texas every year for the winter.

Planning to pre-emptively replace the hybrid battery with one from NewPriusBatteries and sell the original modules. I plan to drive the car into 300,000miles, and don't want to deal with module failure events that will be statistically more likely the older the battery gets.

No, it is not a software solution.

Yes, you do have to remove the trim to get to the electronics bay the first time you recondition to install the wire harness you will need to connect the charger/discharger to the battery (much the same idea as installing a 12 V battery quick connect plug), but after that, it is just a plug-and-play deal.

2006 Original battery went bad in 2017 March 210k miles. Refurbished battery lasted 2 years but good enough for $800. I junk it now because the AC evaporator leaks and need 14Hours labor to replace. For the first 10 years everything is normal, catalytic converter went bad at 180k miles in 2013 June. I lived in FL and no garage. Oul consumption 0.5 quart every 5k miles.

    2009 157,000 original battery.

I did the 12v once, tires and windshield wipers. Changed coolants at 100K oil every 10K.

I use it like a mini truck, hauling about 1000 lbs most of the time. 75mph average but only get about 45mpg

    Still runs great.

190,000km in a 2007. Original battery and untouched!
No error codes, but I am planning to take it out and recondition it sometime in the next week, with the hope of extending it's life a little further...

    2008 Tspirit (UK).
    Now at over 151k miles.
Still on original traction battery and the only replacement 12v battery was installed in 2014.
Do approximately 170 miles commute per week.
Running on Esso Synergy Supreme E5 (Super Unleaded) +99 RON fuel.
Avoiding the E10 fuel being foisted upon us in the UK - very low quality rubbish. Makes the engine labour and vibrate, E10 burns off quickly with much less range and dreadful MPG.
    I don’t trust UK E10 fuels.
Otherwise, the “Spaceship” continues to roll along, day after day.

2008 with 116,000. Just recently completed a San Francisco to Dallas round trip with no problems, very grateful for my car.

What a great question, thank you OP.

With a quick read, I'd conclude time of 20 years is not out of the question for the hybrid battery life.
Mileage seems to vary in the responses, with many still on the original at 200K.
