Congrats on your new Prius! Ours is only a couple weeks old.

Now I'm interested in the EV mod. Thanks for relaying your experiences with it.

And much thanks for posting that tidbit about disabling the seatbelt beeper -- I had been trying it over and over and had no success -- it totally makes sense now that the pressure sensor in the seat has to be engaged for it to work.

That's TWO HAPPY 2007 Touring Edition new owners... mine was delivered Saturday Nov 11th.

With your tire upgrade, you might want to note a differences in your speedometer and NAV system. The Touring Edition Prius is calibrated using the Bridgestone Turanza P195/55R16 86V tire. If your substitute gives you more ground clearance (You quoted 1"), than the Revolutions per Mile will be less than the OEM Bridgestones and show lower MPH readings than the OEM tires - you would be going a little faster than indicated. Probably not a big difference, but nontheless a difference. The NAV system, in part, depends on dead reckoning as well as GPS readings so the dead reckoning part would also be off a bit.

I snooped online a little but can't readily find the comparison of Revs/Mile on the Bridgestones and your substituted tires. A comparison of the two could produce a clue to the percentage change in your readings. This admittedly is very technical. I certainly wouldn't be very concerned.

I've put only about 60 miles on my new Touring, but so far am pleased particularly with the backup camera and, so far, the ride and handling characteristics compared to my 2004 I traded.

I've turned 450 mi on my 2007 Touring. Toyota continues to build a lot of critical thinking into its vehicles and the 2007 Touring is an excellent example. Welcome to the fold and enjoy every turn of the wheels.

 

You guys forgot another new Touring owner...I picked mine up on Nov. 4th!

And compared to my Olds, my Prius is a joy and much more comfortable to ride in. Even some of the road bumps that were a bit harsh on the Olds rolled over like silk in the Touring. I've gotten 47 MPG so far on my first tank from the drive home from IN where I picked it up at.

So far, I added the ProClip center mount for my Sirius Sportster Replay and cradle and it holds there very nicely. Now just have to route the wires so that they wont be unsightly. The sat antenna sat nicely on the center speaker on the dash with the magnetic mount, and I get great reception as well. Not sure how I will run the antenna wire yet if I install the ant on the roof so will have to figure that out first.

Handling is awesome too and I LOVE the HID lights....puts my old halogens on the Olds to serious shame when it comes to visibility.

As for the tires, so far I like the stock Bridgestone tires and it sure beats the Integrities.

I also like that with the in-dash CD Changer, I can put both Audio and MP3 discs in there at the same time and the unit will play both. As for the audio sound...personally I found them acceptable (to my ears anyway). However that dont discount the idea of me upgrading the speakers at a future time as I am a sound buff.

My new Cingular RAZR V3 phone paired nicely with the BT system, and recently figured out how to do the voice activation with it, and even made some test calls with it. LOVE IT!

I am not going to do the mods like EV and such as I feel it isnt necessary, and I am definitely going to get some all weather mats pretty soon as winter is coming....dont want to get my new ride dirty!

BTW, I am going to be driving down to TX later this week for the Thanksgiving holidays....and my mom already told me she wants to test drive the Prius as well as my brother.....possible future Prius buyers??

Hello all you "Touring Edition" folks... B)

Looks like we have a "sub culture" of Touring Edition folks shaping up.

After a brief day of upping my tire pressures to 40 front/38 rear, and reading some other posts here on PriusChat, I went back to near the Toyota recommended pressures (37/35) and found the ride more pleasing. It's too soon to note the mileage - that'll take a few thousand miles.

My principal frustration is programming the HomeLink mirror to my garage door. My opener has a rolling code and after four or five attempts [carefully following the Owner's Manual instructions], I'm not able to get it working. Gotta drag out the Manual on the Garage Door Opener "learn" mode and keep trying. I was able to defeat the "backup buzzer" and re-program the doors to "open all" as I wished. I do like the "self-dimming" mirror. I had preferred my '04 wheels "naked" - removing the plastic wheel covers, but the Touring Edition wheels have an unattractive exposed axle end without the wheel covers. Perhaps someone will discover a cover plate which will fit the Touring Edition wheels.

Hey Vegeman, You wouldn't consider posting the Coastal EV mod directions would you. I'd like to read the directions before I decide whether or not I'm capable of doing the mod?

I got my touring with pack #6 a week ago - now 370 miles into the first tank and 50.0 mpg so far so not bad at all..

Charles - FYI - I have ordered the center caps (small insert part) that were designed for the smaller 15" wheels as apparantly they also fit intot he centre of the 16" alloys.

The "Touring Edition" Prius makes changes in the "Packages" contents, changes the suspension (apparently different spring rate, struts and torsion bars for a 'firmer ride'), adds 1" to the spoiler, changes the wheels to 16" with Bridgstone Turanza tires. I think the handling is noticeably better on the Touring Edition compared to my 2004 Prius.

The HID headlights are included in the Base package in the Touring Edition. If you purchase Package 6 with Options A & P4 (all the "goodies"), the MSRP difference in the Texas region is $270 (Ibelieve the tires alone are worth that difference).

Package 6 (Texas area) includes Leather trimmed seats & steering wheel, JBL sound system with MP3 and Wma playback, Satellite Radio capable, Bluetooth capable, VSC, Homelink Rearview Mirror, Anti-theft system, Backup Camera, NAV system. This equates to the "top of the line" packages on previous models.
