I haven't posted here in a while, but our 2017 Prime now has 154,451 miles. We had to replace the brakes around 20k miles ago, nothing else. Our 2007 Prius has close to 500k. We didn't replace the brakes on that car until around 275k.

Any other high milers out there? Issues? Do we know how much a replacement battery would run?

The service manager at our local dealership told me to not worry about battery replacement shy of 300k miles.

the odd one that goes will be very expensive, probably totaled, but based on pip experience so far, there will be very few unlucky owners.

If you're putting that many miles on it, you must be driving in HV mode a lot of the time, so the battery is likely getting relatively light use. I think it could last a really long time.

For example if the battery will last a finite number of cycles, HV mode in a prime puts fewer cycles on it than a standard Prius, because the battery is so much bigger, and each bit of charging and discharging is a smaller fraction of a full cycle.

If you're using more than one charge of EV mode per day that seems to me like pretty heavy use of the battery. Maybe you are if you have a long commute and charge at both ends.

Wowzers! So, you must drive an average of around 150 miles per day? Somewhere around 5 times the nation average?

I’m not implying that’s good or bad, of course, just exceptional.

Have you been sticking to Toyota's oil change interval, or have you gone with oil analysis to see how far you can stretch it?

I have a 2017 advance, 111,000 miles and my brakes look great. Maybe 60-70% left. Still on my second set of tires and they should last another 20-30k. Love the Prius so far and just did the cvt transmission change. Engine Oil changes every 7k miles. I do everything myself. Spark plugs done around 95k. Car runs top notch still. I would have more miles but covid slowed my pace way down. Lol. Glad to hear you got a lot of use out of your car!

How many EV miles are you still getting out of a charge?

Why did you choose 7000 miles for the oil change? There is a thread around here from a Prius/CT 200 owner driving high miles like you that did used oil analysis. That showed they could do 25k to 30k for oil changes.

I am interested in whether you two with over 100K miles have experienced the two problems that some Prime owners have noticed: The peeling or spots on the steering wheel cover and the rust on the hatchback release handle. If so, that would indicate that I might have to worry about it happening to mine. Or not, since at my present rate of putting on miles, it will be 20 years before I hit the 100K mark.

I like to err on the conservative side when it comes to oil changes. Otherwise I couldn’t live with myself. Lol

I have not experienced any of those problems. I got mine in early of 2017. Had to wait a week or 2 before I got it. Bought it sight unseen or driven. The only problem I had was the automatic rain sensing wiper relay failed on me. It was out of warranty. But Toyota Corporation gave me a free repair out of warranty. It was ridiculously expensive $500 for the relay. Otherwise I’ve had zero problems other then speeding tickets. Lol

I have a 120 round trip daily commute. We have a vacation home we visit weekly. So, 50k miles per year. We have averaged this since buying our 2007 Prius! I can't imagine what other car would handle this kind of driving.

I change it around every 10k with the recommended oil. I have never done an analysis.

The steering wheel cover has started to peel on the top. The hatchback release is fine.

For me, after the COVID19 shutdowns, meaning I started working at home, it plummeted to 21, but it’s back up to about 29 now. That’s real miles, and GoM miles (for me, the GoM usually guessed pretty well).

I am at140k with my 2017. It's the best car ever. It goes to the dealer on the schedule and they change oil etc as they see fit.
On my 2nd set of brake pads
    3rd set of tires
    5th set of wipers...etc

Would likely keep going and going.
I have noticed my mpg is decreasing slightly. From 66.5 to now 63.1
Good problem to have I guess.

    Steering wheel is flaking.
Paint at back glass is flaking.
O well waiting for the bz4x
