Bought a Wireless Apple Car Play Dashboard Console 2.0 unit. It suction cups to the windshield so we can remove it when I park outside.$240. from Cructhfield. I wanted something removable so it fit the bill.

My first gen 2 I had from 2005-2008 and gave it 97,000 miles.
    My second gen 2 (2007facelift model) 2008-2016 147,000 miles
The only reason for replacing the second gen 2 was because I Ioved the 2016 gen4.
In their lifetime both gen2 had regular servicing and new iridium spark plugs every 60,000 miles. I only swapped out the original gen2 because I wanted the higher resolution sat nav. Lol.
When I part ex’d the 2007 for the mk4 I asked the dealer to do a battery check and they said it was at 85% capacity and only “just run in” lol.
There are always bad cars of any grade or manufacturer, but also some good ones. True I too avoided gen3.

I would buy another Gen 2 in a heartbeat if I needed to. Great car to drive, cheap to insure, super reliable, they’re hard to beat. That being said, just like most cars, it would be advisable to have $2k-$3k set aside for any unforeseen repairs.
I’ve owned mine for 8.5 years and still love driving it every day. I was just asked recently by a friend, which has been my favorite car of the 33 I’ve owned? I told him, you’re really not going to believe this, but having owned cars from almost every make, including BMW, Mercedes, Range Rover, etc—my $8,000 2006 Prius bought on a whim off of Craigslist is still my fave. It’s comfortable, easy to drive, cheap and easy to maintain, and very low key.

Well, I just bought a 2008 Yesterday w/135k on it. Rides nice, Back a few years ago I had a 2007 my wife bought new drove it for awhile and decided she wanted a sports car so she gave it to me, I drove it for a couple years and stupidly sold it for something else. I own 5 vehicles altogether and they are ALL Gas hogs, and we all know how the gas situation is currently.

I was getting my Sky ready to list on CarGurus for 9k when it hit me that maybe I can just trade it in on a Prius, Found one, the dealer gave me 2k more than I paid for it 4 years ago and for those keeping track, that's 3k more than I was going to list it for.

Anyway, My 'New' Prius appears to have been well maintained according to the Carfax maintenance records and I expect to hopefully get at least another 120k out of it.

I'd suggest to watch some YouTube vids on buying a used Prius, it'll tell you things to look for, I checked the battery output on mine and it's sitting at 14.6, So it's still got plenty of juice in it and even the 12 volt is fine, I say go for it, just do your homework. They are very easy to work on if you have some mechanical skills, now I'm wishing I would have bought another one sooner.
