    Congrats! Totally agree on what @bisco says, learn all you can about the EGR. It'll take a bit but you'll be far better informed about your car. Also look into an oil catch can. I bought my 2013 Prius a couple weeks ago and have learned tons from this site and its people.

    The catalytic converters on these are soft targets for thieves; it takes a minute or less to cut it out.
    One of the very first things I would do is install a shield underneath to deter would-be thieves (I certainly wish I had before mine was stolen).

    I agree, you need to have at least a cheap cat shield installed on the car.

    a better option is to sell the cat if itis oem for around $1,000. and install an aftermarket for around $200.
