I'm looking for a 240 charger to go with the box I'm having an electrician install soon. This one looks like a good unit and decent value to me.... Anyone have any experience with it? Thanks
I m not seeing the link even after pausing the Ad-blocker Extention. I think this post being your very first, the link you copied was not uploaded. It takes 5 comments (?) or so for a new member to be allowed to post a link. This is so to prevent a bot from randomly spamming the site. You might just want to spell out the product name and description. OR, comment a few more in this post and try copying the link again. BTW, Welcome to PriusChat! Edit: I checked this thread on my different computer using a different browser that allows ads. And I now see your Amazon link. I am sorry, I don't have an experience with the particular L2 EVSE myself. Maybe others will chime in soon.
MEGEAR Skysword Level 1-2 EV Charger, 100-240V 16A 25FT Portable EVSE, NEMA 6-20 Plug with NEMA 5-15 Adapter Electric Vehicle Charging Station
Just editorial: I'm viewing this on Win10 with FireFox and Ghostery (ad-blocker, and yeah it's working), and I CAN see the Amazon ad. Which is weird; usually I can't, lol.
I don't know anything about the MEGEAR Level 1 -2 EVSE, but I think they handled the dual voltage cord issue in an excellent way. By using the NEMA 6-20 as the basic 240-volt plug, the converter cord for a 120-volt outlet only accepts the NEMA 6-20 with its "sideways" blade. That means that you can plug this unit directly into a NEMA 6-20 outlet wired for 240-volts -- or, with the short adapter cord provided, into a NEMA 5-20 20-amp outlet (with T-slot) wired for 120-volts or into into a standard 15-amp 120-volt NEMA 5-15 outlet. Because of the use of the NEMA 6-20 on the adapter cord (with its turned sideways blade), you don't have to worry about someone using the adapter cord in dangerous error with a 120-volt appliance. It's too bad that Toyota did not follow this strategy with its OEM device.
