Hello everyone! A new owner of white 2018 Prius Prime Tech (Advanced) in Canada BC. Was previously driving 2018 Hyundai Ioniq PHEV. Couldn't be happier with the new ride. Few notable changes from Hyundai to Ioniq; - Much more refined in ride quality. Cabin in quieter and I can't seem to notice when the engine kicks in. - One step above in terms of comfort and interior quality. - Fuel efficiency on PP is one step above hyundai but falls behind in EV Range (40km VS., 50km on Hyundai). - I absolutely love the exterior design of Prius. Call me weird on this one. - Love the gadgets and comfort creatures/ safety features in this ride (HUD, 11" Touchscreen, Auto, Dynamic Cruise control, LED headlights, etc) Now, I noticed that my ride is missing the tonneau cover. Anyone in this forum selling one? Tips on removing light scratches around the cupholder area? I know gloss black will be a nightmare to maintain. I may attempt to replace the console trim panel with a new part from toyota. The car has rubber mats and the roof rack- What other accessories do you recommend for this car? Any tips or hidden features? Please share! Thanks everyone!
Congrats and welcome to PriusChat! Oh wow they got rid of the tonneau cover? Man what’s with manufacturers dropping accessories now. Kia in the US isn’t including a 120V cable or tonneau cover either for their EV6. Of course the Model Y doesn’t come with a tonneau cover either. I’d find a way to get a bumper protector. The bumper lip is wide and I’ve got damage on mine from friends loading items and a tire shop loading winter tires. And a door sill protector (the Prius illuminated ones fit). You might find some cool things here. Congrats!! And welcome, @Zup2sky. Best thing you can do with this car is peruse the owners manual. This car has tons of features you'll discover in there along with explanations of why it does what it does and how to get the most out of it. Getting the PDF version from http://www.toyota.com/owners makes it really handy. @Tideland Prius, I don't think Toyota removed the tonneau cover on the 2018. I imagine it was the previous owner. My PO removed one key fob and the manuals.
I have both retractable type tonneau and a flexible cargo cover that came with earlier lower trims for cheap. I will take your best offer as long as you pay for the shipping. I have no need for them. The only thing is that cost of shipping it (especially bulky hardcover retractable one) to your location may be too expensive such that you may be better off finding one locally within your country. Yeah, I hated piano black on the dash and console and other trim parts. They are such a dust magnet. I have not done it on my current 2021 PP Ltd, but on my previous PP LE, I deleted all Piano Black by warring them. See more photos on this thread. I an definitely interested in either soft or retractable cover. I often travel to WA to pickup my parcel in US, but let’s chat more. Not sure how to send you a PM though. That’s some great info! It was a used car so I figured the previous owner may not have included the cover when he/she sold the car to the dealer. It should have been included sigh. Thank you! There's so much tech and features to read through. And that’s correct it’s the PO that misplaced or decided not to include the cover. How difficult was removing trim pieces? Wrapping them might be easier and cost effective solution than replacing them entirely. I was looking through settings to turn on or off Road Sign Assist. I couldn't find any; I'd imagine this feature may not have been included in Canada.
I would recommend the OP go back to the dealer or private party he purchased the car from and ask for the tonneau cover. I took mine off when I purchased the car as it got in the way of the two boxes and cooler I keep their for hauling groceries. I stored it in the garage so I can give it to the next person who purchases the car. It is possible the previous owner just forgot about it. I believe there is a different (better?) cover for the advanced than the one that comes with the basic model.
Please don't take this as an insult, but did you look under the small storage unit in the trunk? They will fit length wise in there. Our 2017 didn't have one, but I found the exact size on Amazon for app. $125 while Toyota wanted over $500 for theirs. Just search by year and model. We LOVE our 2017. Perfect car for the type of driving we do during the winter here in AZ. Just went in to get gas at Costco - 1150 miles; 5.5 gallons of gas!! Yes, as suggested, keep reading the manuels!! Still haven't found all the screens and tricky things you can bring up!
Yeah, PM function on this platform has not been working for some members including myself, and seems to be you. We can chat non-privately on this thread. Or, if you want, I can generate a temp e-mail address that would work only for a short time. We can exchange contact info on that e-mail. Removing the center console is not hard. But I could not remove the 12v socket and the AUX/USB socket. I had to wrap around it and that made some wrinkles around the switches. Also, the console has too much contour to wrap it with a single piece. You would have to wrap in sections.
None taken! Unfortunately, the cover wasn't in the hidden storage unit. I've checked Ebay and thankfully used tonneau cover is much more reasonably priced. I agree with you. The PP is one notch above the Ioniq PHEV when it comes to its fuel efficiency and Ioniq was no slouch either.
The dealer is a non-toyota dealer and I don't believe i can ask them to supply me with one or ask for a discount given how popular PP has become in BC. It's currently $2/L and when converted to US metrics: $6/Gallon. The advanced model comes with retractable cover which I am after.
Personally I prefer soft cover over the retractable one as it is flexible and practical. Sometimes oversize luggage can still be covered, and you can remove it and easily store it underneath the cargo matt especially you need fold down the rear seats for addition cargo spaces.
I agree. I have both and prefer the soft cover. It stretches to cover things and automatically goes up and down with the hatch. Plus it’s lighter than the retractable cover.
