Have an issue installing the Prolong harness. For over three days have been leaving messages and sending emails, but no response.
I see also that Jeff654, their engineer and founder, hasn't posted here in well over a year while he used to be quite active.
The green disc Ahh havent seen in about year like you say. Im using Venice Hybrids 2.4 ah charger tan rectangular box w digital ..
These reports about them keep getting worse and worse... They are not long for this world. Just let us know how we can help answer your question? More than one of us have installed many Prolong harnesses.
I have a question, So i have a pack that i removed from a good car, been sitting for about 6 months and when i tried to install it into another 2005 i just aquired it showed on the Dr Prius app that it didn't have any charge i'm pretty sure. Guessing thats why ICE wouldn't stay running and i got the triangle. I know 100% the pack was working fine before I removed it from the donor vehicle. I've. been working on prius for a few years whenever they pop up in Hawaii and am thinking I should invest in a Prolong, Hybrid Automotive, Maxxvolt, venice hybrid charger of some kind. Would this be a great tool and any advice would be much appreciated. Would save me some money in the long run hopefully as well instead of buying rebuilt packs and having them shipped to me in Hawaii.
Yes, when an older pack sits for a long period of time, especially if it is significantly low on capacity, each module will lose voltage at a slighty different rate. Packs that sit for a few years will get down into the 1 volt range. As you might imagine that creates havoc with voltage readings for the ECU, especially once the engine starts sending power into the pack to charge it and each module is reacting differently to the amps coming in because they aren't at the same level of charge. That's why it's essential to pump 1/4 amp at 250v or more to trickle charge and balance the pack over night / 24 hours after its been sitting for a long time... And good news is there's a much cheaper way to do this than investing the big bucks in a commercial product like Prolong or Maxx Volts. George of Hybrid Automotive contacted me the Monday after I first tried to contact his company. He had been on personal time off. He checked out the photos I sent and concluded that I needed a new fan control sub-assembly, so he sent me one. When it arrived I spliced it in and it worked.
