You you considered the possibility of a fluid leak?

It seems a very remote possibility, given the speed-related, only-above-60mph nature of what's being reported; certainly more remote than the usual explanation, tire rpm differences, which has already been covered.

Not to necro-post, but my 2007 Prius just started exhibiting this exact same behavior. ABS, VSC, and (!) lights come on when I hit the freeway, 60MPH+, and go out eventually once I go below 60.

I just had my Axel shaft snap going around a Michigan U, and had it replaced (car wouldn't move, now it does), and in addition to this new issue, sometimes when I am braking even on dry pavement, my slip indicator comes on, and I have to push the pedal almost to the floor. Sometimes braking is normal.

OP, you said you replaced the inverter coolant pump and all has been well since? Can you post more details on this? I have also been getting P1121 and some other DTCs related to the coolant valve that is prone to sticking on these cars. Are they one and the same, or 2 different beasts?

I wonder if I should take this back to the guy who fixed the axle shaft and see if that is causing the problem...

Hey! It's ok. the mystery is still pending.

No, replacing the inverter collant pump did not fix this problem.

I have a new theory and I will be finding out very soon if it's true.

I replaced the front left rotor and pads. I thought this may fix the issue since I was grinding the router. I thought that the sensor knew before it was audible, and I shouldve just replaced pads sooner.

This was not the case. The lights still come on after 65mph....

BUT, now my right front rotor is uneven, and I can here it lightly gliding by the pads when I pass cars, walls, etc, you know how you can here your cars sounds better when youre driving in this situation.

My new theory is that its the right front's scraping / and un balanced rotor was causing this code after 65mph. And now it is audible.

I am replacing this week and will let everyone know if it fixes it.

Since you had work done on your prius that requires disassembly of these elements, then you may be dealign with the same problem.

    I'll let you know soon!

I wish I had a scanner. What one do you use?

Yes please keep me posted. I am anxious to get this fixed before July when the In laws come.

I have 2 scanners, but neither one checks/clears ABS codes sadly. One is a handheld Inova 3100e I think. It’s a bit older, but works on the Prius, displaying the code and a description.

The other is a Scanguage II which I keep mounted up in the car, it can read and clear codes but I need google to know what they are.

I’ve been looking at new ones at Harbor Freight, their resonantly priced and some models do ABS. Or get a Bluetooth dongle and connect it to my phone.

Maybe I should get my brakes done, I know I haven’t done them since I’ve owned the car, and when I drive my friends Prius v, his brakes are way more sensitive. I barely have to touch the pedal in his, and it bites much harder. But mine feels like a regular car with bad brakes.

We occasionally get threads where multiple people chime in thinking they all have the same problem, and nobody has read the codes from their cars that tell what the problem is. This might be turning into one of those.

Check post #20 from last September for info on getting the brake codes without needing a fancy scanner.

I am not sure if this will work, but what about an OBDII dongle from Amazon and Torque Pro for Android? There PID for Prius that can be added and many codes can be read as well as freeze frames, etc. Will this work instead of Techstream?

This happened to me after I reset my ABS/VSC System with my tech stream. The difference is that only the traction control warning icon comes on. Same tires as I’ve always had since I got it. It’s only as I approach 60mph, the light starts flashing and it acts as though I’m loosing power, like it would when the traction control kicks in when the front wheels start to spin? Weird.

You can use Techstream to look up the reasons for the most recent four (I think it's four) times the traction control was triggered. It will have the vehicle speed, g forces, speeds of all four wheels, etc. That will probably bring you very close to a conclusion on what's going on.

When you say you "reset" your "ABS/VSC System" with Techstream, what did you do exactly? And was there a reason you did that?

Make sure the tires are the same size as well.
