I recently upgraded to a 2017 level 4 from a 2010 level 4 and noticed the dome light doesn’t come on when I approach the car. I can’t find anything in the owners manual about this option so I was wondering if Toyota did away with this feature. If there is a way to turn this on I would really appreciate some help. I really liked to be able to see inside the car at night before getting. Thanks in advance for your help
Don't know if this is controlled by a setting somewhere, but I have a 2017 Prius 4 and my light comes on when I approach the car.
I turned that setting off in my 2010 using Techstream, so I would guess it works about the same way in later models.
It's a configurable option with carista OBDII so you can get it back with something like carista or at the dealer
(1) Does the dome light (not just other lights) come on when you open the door? If not, the dome light switch may have accidentally been turned off, or light burned out, or ... (2) When testing this, is the door/car locked? When not locked (e.g. inside my garage), the fob in close proximity does not turn on the interior light in my Gen3. (3) Check configuration options mentioned by previous respondents.
I notice mine will do the same if I have not used the car for a few days as I believe the smart key goes into a kind of deep sleep. Also when in this state, there is a slight pause before the doors will unlock when I put my hand behind the handle.
It's in the customizable features section of the owner's manual. As already stated, you need Carista, Techstream or something like that to check or to change it.
