I use the Toyota App to manage the remote climate features for my 2022 Toyota Prius Prime Limited and noticed this morning that I no longer have the option to activate the Rear Defroster. I can only set the target temperature and the Front Defroster. I was able to activate the Rear Defroster through the app as recently as last week. Anyone else experiencing this? I'm wondering if it has anything to do with weather related thresholds for climate features (I'm outside of Boston, MA where it's been quite cold lately) or if the Rear Defroster option has been removed through a recent update of the app?
Noticed the same thing this morning. I am based in Indiana and used the rear defrost in Mississippi as recently as Friday 2/4/22.
That’s interesting. Glad I’m not the only one but would be unfortunate if this feature has been removed.
The "Rear defrost" option has disappeared on my iPhone, but is still there on my Motorola. I have the latest updates from both app stores. It seems that that the application downgrades are first done on the iOS version, and then on the Android version, so I can expect the "rear defrost" function to disappear on my Android in the near future.
It seems Toyota's way for OTA software update is to downgrade available features. I am so glad that I opted out of the Connected Service and never installed the Toyota App on my phone. If I did, I would be frustrated too.
Toyota app version 1.2.12 (for iOS) brought back the Rear Defrost function. I haven’t tested if this version triggers the function since its been warm recently.
Thanks for sharing this. I can confirm that with the latest update I do see the Rear Defrost option is back! Snow storm on the way in the Boston area so I’ll give it a go on Friday to see if it works as expected.
Got way more snow than expected last week so didn’t get a chance to test. We did have a light snow cover this morning so gave it a go and seems the rear defroster is working through activation via remote services in the Toyota app - confirmed through the app and the snow melting off the rear windshield.
