    Hello All,
    I'm back. Had a Gen ll with 300K + miles on it that I lost in a tornado in 2019. I think I would still be driving it if not for the storm. lol Then I bought another one that I ended up totaling when a lady pulled out in front of me. Now I have a Prius V which I have to say I like the best out of all of them. Anyway, I have my 1st problem with the V;

    My 2013 Prius V passenger door suddenly stopped unlatching to open. It won't open with the outside handle or the inside handle. The door does come unlocked with the inside handle, the electric lock/unlock and the fob, but it will not unlatch to open. The only way I know to troubleshoot it is to get the door panel off which I don't know is possible without the door opening. Any ideas ?

    Keith

    i'm just guessing, is there any way to peel back the panel near the handle to peek inside?
    i wonder if a locksmith could do it.

    A lock/open actuation rod has probably come loose from the latch.

    If I recall correctly (from replacing the door speakers), the top of the door panel hangs on a ridge on the inner door skin, with plastic pop rivets along the lower side and bottom edges, so this is going to be a challenge.

    May have to remove the adjacent seat to access the door panel mounting hardware.

    Just for the sake of helping others that may encounter the same problem. I was able to get the door open by rolling down the window, holding the interior door handle out and the exterior door handle out at the same time and then giving the door a good bump in the closed direction and it pop right open. It appears the latch was dirty and provide just enough resistance to keep it from releasing. A good round of grease and its working fine now. I was prepared to do some real damage.

    Door may have been out of alignment, as well.
