I'm thinking of getting a new Prius and I called the ARB Public Information Office at (800) 242-4450. They told me that 3,000 of the 10,000 new California HOV lane access decals are gone. I'm posting here to get confirmation from another source: Is this true? ... Can someone confirm? ... is there a URL/Link that shows this? HOV lane access is a big factor in my decision for a hybrid ... That's why it is important to confirm this. TIA

According to the following link, they won't actually send those stickers to people until after January 1st: http://priuschat.com/index.php?s=&show...st&p=340890 If you're buying the car in the next month, you'd probably be fairly safe as far as whether there will still be stickers left, but obviously the sooner the better. I can't confirm that number, but.. we sent tha app to DMV 10/13 and got it last week. If we were near the end of the original 75000, basically 3 1/2 weeks and they have 3000 in queue? (that rate seems high as in one of the other posts said it slowed down!) In anycase, at 1000/week - you have 6-7 weeks - but you should factor in it could take a week or two or three, to get you plate numbers.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(cobra9 @ Nov 9 2006, 01:12 PM) </div> That's upsetting!!! I sent my app in 9-27, they cashed my check on 10-11 and I still have not received them. I just figured I was part of the January 1, 07 crowd. Then again its also 9 weeks and counting for my shark fin antenna as well, man my patience is stating to wear thin................
From the DMV: http://www.dmv.ca.gov/vr/decal.htm The original 75,000 Clean Air Vehicle Stickers that VC §5205.5 allowed for hybrid vehicles have been issued. As of January 1, 2007, the law will change to allow an additional 10,000 stickers to be issued to hybrids. The department will continue to accept applications for qualifying hybrids; however, the stickers will not be issued until the new law takes effect on January 1, 2007. Recent legislation has extended the Clean Air Vehicle sticker program. All Clean Air Vehicle stickers will expire January 1, 2011, unless the law authorizing their use is extended beyond that date.
inventor00, I've read that in several threads and just figured that's why I haven't received them yet. The upsetting part is Cobra9, good for him, sent his in the day after they cashed my check and he's already received his, last Thursday I believe and since he's in San Fran and I'm in Long Beach I should have received them Monday or Tuesday, but It looks like January 1...... They're worth the wait and they'll get here when they get here.........
