Completely bonehead move on my part that I acknowledge. I got distracted while filling up my 2016 Prius V and didn't realize the gas pump did not automatically shut off causing fuel to spill outside of the tank. Car drives fine, but it's been about a week and the gas tank has not dropped from full. I've skimmed some posts about how to reset/recalibrate the fuel gauge, but those appear to be more older models. I've also seen suggestions to disconnect the battery. I want to see what suggestions others may have before I explore any DIY possibilities. I also understand I may have damaged a sensor. TYIA.
Maybe 60-70? It's been about a week and I haven't driven that much. Especially with using heat and seat warmers her in the North, I'd have expected it to drop by a bar or two. Perhaps I need to be patient!
Yes, be more patient. FWIW I always average 40+ mpg. Sometimes even 50 mpg. Since you "stuffed" the fuel tank, I'd be more patient. Good luck.
Agree it is probably ok. My gauge does not move for quite a while. The actual level gauge is in gas anyway; you may have dumped gas into the evap system but it would throw codes if its fouled up.
I've filled up with those red (plastic) gas cans which end up overfilling. Also topped off because I don't trust the automatic shutoff. There's a float. It's still floating at the top and may for 2 more weeks I would guess at your usage... REVVL V+ 5G ?
Update! After about 2 1/2 weeks, the gas gauge finally started going down, so turns out I just needed some patience. Luckily no signs of any other damage due to my error. Oh - and don't be me! Pay attention to the gas nozzle, lol!
