Video of issue here: This has been happening more frequently since about two weeks ago, to the point now that it happens 100% of the time if when the car auto connects to either my wife's phone or my phone. It will display some random call in progress and I can't hang up. The only way to temporarily resolve is to disconnect, delete the bluetooth pairing, and add it in again. While driving two weeks ago, the display also just restarted twice randomly while I was still driving. Any thoughts?
How are your phones working otherwise ? Changes to the network are in progress. But that wouldn't explain the spontaneous reboots. My guess: you need a new "head unit"......probably at considerable cost if you have a dealer do it.
I think Sam means changes to the FCC spectrum. Specifically shifting assigned frequencies around to make room for 5G by removing 3G.
Toyota has released software updates for the head unit, and one of these might fix the problem. See bulletin T-SB-0003-20 Rev2, “Entune Audio Head Unit Software Update (Panasonic)” (PDF), February 8, 2021. The download links won’t work in the copy of the bulletin on NHTSA’s server, but the files are available with a Professional Diagnostic subscription to techinfo.toyota.com.
3G will be retired in the near future. Some phones will stop working. And the phone links in some cars too.......but that is different than your problem.
The phone thing happens to me sometimes too. To fix it, I call any phone number and when I hang up, the 'call' on the display hangs up.
