This is the current model they used for charging the 12v AGM battery found in the Prius. Snap-on Store
No - it's a Gen 3 - the Gen 4 doesn't use an AGM 12 volt. You can see at the start of the video it's a Gen 3 - and he says it's an old 2010. There might be some general similarities - but the Gen 4 is a very different vehicle. Hopefully the Moderators move the thread to Gen 3.
Your right this post was about a 2020 prius prime and its constant dead batteries. Sorry and I would move it if I knew how. Yes it was a Gen 3 the video and maybe i'm wrong but the Prius prime charges the 12v the same way, when in Ready, thru the DC - DC converter. If its differnt im unaware of that. But its a great explanation on the 12v system.
It's just as well that the video shows a Gen 3 since this is in a Gen 3 forum. This is the Prius Prime charging system, which is the same as the regular Gen 4. Pretty much all hybrids charge their 12V batteries in a similar fashion but there may be slight detail differences. I don't get this talk about Prius Primes and frequent dead batteries. I've never had one in my 2017 and it's still the original. Edit to add: LOL! @alanclarkeau, I just followed your link after posing this. Guess I could have saved myself some time if I'd done that first.
It was originally put on Gen 4 FORUM - but I requested that it all move to Gen 3 seeing that's where it belonged.
