Anyone have a step by step for removing the dash on a Gen 1? I'm working to replace the immobilizer. Thanks
As I recall you pretty much have to disassemble the entire car..I've dismantled a few of them and I can't imagine doing it being careful and then reassembling it all again. I just cut into the dashpad above and then it is easy to get to it. Using a vibrating cutter can make somewhat clean cuts to glue it back together, one of my cars had a dashpad already, so hidden, the other was junky car anyway.. It is possible to get to it from below, probably need to fashion a tool with a camera
Art's Automotive has described replacing that without removing the dash (or cutting it up, either). Apparently your arm looks like this afterward, but it's possible.
I appreciate replies. I am likely going to use the cutting tool. I had watched the video from Art's Automotive and still couldn't find the ecu up in there. I am happy to cut it and tape it. .
Ive been looking for tips about dismantling it and ive found out it has 4 main fixations other than the plastic on the sides... Couple of 10m nuts beneath the odometer button pad ..and couple of 8m bolts beneath the weather control knobs
