OK, I have 50,000 miles on the current set of Big O Euro Tour 185/65R15 tires and it is time to replace them. However, I bought these in Oroville, CA but now we live in Prescott, AZ and get periodic snow. Any suggestions for All-season, LRR, tires, preferably NOT made in North America? I have Continentals from Europe on my VW Jetta Wagon TDI, and BF Goodrich Sports on my Mazda Miata but have always used the Big O tires on the Prius (after the OEM ones); unfortunately I don't see them on the Big O website anymore. So I figured I'd ask here for some ideas.
Big O Euro Tires are made by Cooper (USA), just because it says Euro doesn't mean its made in Europe. Maybe check out the Coopers since you like them. Big O Euro also made by TBC Corp USA https://www.vehicletire.com/Consumer-Complaint/Big-O/H-R-Euro-Tour TBC Corporation – Tire Industry Leader Largest tire manufacturers? Hmmm seems the only USA manufacturers are Goodyear and Cooper, you're OK choosing any others. Bridgestone (Japan) is the world's largest tire manufacturer, followed by Michelin (France), Goodyear (United States), Continental (Germany) and Sumitomo (Japan).
I'm buying some stuff out of Poland too funny actually pretty good tires I don't generally spend over 40 bucks a pop just because I go through them so fast and changed them so often even the Michelin defender blah blah blah 90,000 mi wear out tires I might get 55,000 might and the tires will be down past the tread wear indicators they'll be completely white and I don't like running tires till they look like that just to get my money's worth
I didn't know Cooper Tires was still in business; thought they'd gone belly-up or were bought out years ago. They were good tires back in the 60s & 70s, IIRC. It was interesting that those "complaints" about Big O Euro Tour tires did not mention the mileage ON THE TIRES but only total mileage on the vehicles. I went with Big O Euro Tour tire after the OEM tires that came on the car wore out within about 25,000 miles. After research, the Euros were the only LRR tires that economically met the driving conditions for where we were in California. We've had three sets and I only had to replace one tire early when we ran over a broken pliers half that punched a hole too large to plug. So, any specific LRR 185/65R15 tires that are all season including light snow? We don't get enough snow to warrant winter tires as it usually snows at night but is gone by late afternoon.
Tirerack.com suggests All-seasons that are severe snow rated showing 3 suitable, screen grab of 2 candidates. Vredestein based in Netherlands. https://www.vredestein.com/car-suv-van/tyre-finder/
Thanks, except I don't need severe snow rated tires, just light snow rated. Those 2 are overkill in that respect.
Maybe a Nokian All-Weather tire would be a good option; they’re a year ‘round, one tire option, somewhere between all-season and snow tire.
True. After doing a comparison between the two, the Vredestein looks good; I also looked at their HITRAC tire. Both are on a "possible" list.
