SEAT SWAP TO 8 WAY POWER

I would imagine you need to find the power seat and measure. They were only available in recent models. Let us know.

 

Plus you'll need to create fused power from the chassis harness.

 

I wonder if the OP ever got anywhere with this?

I love the 8-Way seat in my 2017 four. I also love the 510165 MFD with the split screen display that allows me to have the Nav app and the Audio up at the same time. I currently find myself switching between those two apps a lot while driving.

My intention is to continue driving my 2013 Prius V for rideshare until Uber or Lyft tell me I can't drive it Rumor has it that Uber has a 10 year old limit in Philadelphia (15 years old in most cities). Antother rumor has it that Lyft would cut me off at 150K. If I have to stop using the 2013 for rideshare in two years, I would switch to the 2017. My wife would then drive the 2013.

If I could get a Facelift MFD (510057) and an 8-way seat into the 2013, I would have what I really want. I prefer really prefer the Instument Cluster on the 2013 for the following two features:

1) The always present Hybrid Status Indicator to the left of the Speedometer. Yes you can configure a screen to display similar information on the LCD panel towards the right. That screen on the LCD panel requires that I look directly at it, and it is hard to see when regeneration (CHG) is going on.

2) The ability to display the instantaneous MPG next to the odometer. That is where I leave it. I occasionally press the Disp button once to see the current "Average MPG" (which I reset every time I go out Ubering). I then press the Disp button 4 times to get back.

My wife insists on always displaying the "Range", even though the gas guage is right next to it.

 

I've got non-power seats and want to install power seats. How can I do this? my seat connectors look like this:

 

Yellow plug is the rear/side curtain air bag circuit, white plug is seat occupancy/seat belt latch sensor circuit.

You will need to add a motor harness and instructions on how to power and switch it.

 

I think there is a separate seat computer module as well, but I don't know where it is. A lot of work for a retrofit.

As my much shorter daughter was home from University the past few weeks, I have come to dislike the seat. When my daughter has driven the car, the seat is all the way forward, and I have trouble reaching the brake pedal to turn the car on. Without the car on, the seat is stuck in the forward position. In the forward position, I can't even sit sideways to reach the Power On Button.

Fortunately, my Uber car (the 2013) has the manual seat. I can move that seat back without powering up the car. Ah but heated seats are nice.

 

Is a seat computer module necessary to power the seat? Because if the seat is powered by 12V, if I just supply 12V to it, wouldn't the power adjustments just work?

 

High amperage power supply, switching, relays, stepper motor position monitors and holds… possibly ECM connections. It’s not exactly plug and play unless wired for it from the factory. That said, some higher version pigtails are left unused in lower versions from the factory, bundled in place. Worth a look.

 

I have a vague recollection of seeing a seat computer listed in Techstream. The computer might only exist on Lexus cars, but I really don't know. If it exists, it might be on the seat itself. The issue might be that you would need to use Techstream to get the rest of the car to know that the power seat exists. I only mention this seat computer as a possibility that could make the install less than plug and play.
