By 1968 nearly all new /planned communities were doing away with power poles & opting to go underground. Many light poles are 277v. Some EVSE's will deal w/it but beware. Underground power? good luck trying to tap into your local transformer .
This won't work anywhere with a sizeable demographic of people who vandalize anything within arm's reach. Los Angeles is a good example. You can't even have concrete benches or picnic tables outside because people will knock them over or break them. In one area we had to custom fabricate trash dumpsters because people would push them quite a distance to roll them over the side of the road and into a gulley. I don't mean this would happen once in a while. I mean this would happen every two or three days.
