So spent a good part of the afternoon looking for a convenient-to-me spot to setup my Proclip Magsafe mount. I did end up finding a spot and it's not pretty, but it works well for me. It's in a similar spot where my C-HR had this Magsafe mount also positioned. Drilled into the dash and mounted a RAM Mount B sized (1" in diameter) ball and attached a long B sized arm to it. Then the Magsafe mount to that. It's resting on the edge of the black plastic of that center console which will also prevent the whole thing from vibrating when the car is moving. Now I just need to install a hidden 12v DC outlet somewhere in the dash so I can plug that Magsafe puck into a USB PD charger.
Yeah something occured to me a few days back: how about some purpose-built points on the dash, for phone mounts? People DO like to mount their phones. Are ALL the manufacturers hiding their heads in the sand?
Really nothing to figure out. Just look at what other manufacturers are doing. Our other car has wireless Carplay and Android Auto. The wireless Android Auto is light years ahead of our PP. The phone stays in my pocket. It connects to the car's screen in about 15 seconds. I have maps, music and phone available on the screen and I don't forget the phone in the car when I get out. I was worried about the phone battery draining quickly but that hasn't been a problem. When I'm on a long road trip, I plug the phone into the charging cable. I'd use the wireless charger if I didn't buy a cheap phone that doesn't support wireless charging.
I just went the adhesive route and put it in a place that's just about perfect for me. Very secure, stable, and easy to see.
That is a consideration, but leaving a Prius out in the hot sun there or here in FL is really hard on the traction battery. I always use a sun shield if I have to park in the sun. And it still gets up around 120-140 inside my car sometimes. This mount has maybe fallen off once (twice at most) in the two years I've had it.
Yeah I've read the extreme heat is bad for the battery. I wish I had a garage to park in or even a carport.
I know what you mean. We have a Prius and a Prime. One car garage with a two car driveway and no trees on our property.

With hands-free law requirements, no phone mount is best for liability. Also with Android Auto and CarPlay, there is no reason to need one. Use the phone when not driving.
Android auto would be nice... If my Prime had it! Voice commands work well enough that I don't have to touch the phone while driving though. Don't really see an issue with a phone mount as long as you're not touching it.
With rare exceptions (Seattle's 108F June 2021, which almost cooked my goose as I have no AC), it's usually pretty decent around here. I'm one of the odd ducks who still utilizes a sun shield, rain or shine. I figure even weak UV filtered through clouds causes some damage. Bonus: it makes it harder to look into the car in the dark, combined with the ever-present cargo cover.
Yes, it would be perfect to have standard bolt holes built into every car perhaps in two spots. One on the dash next to the steering wheel and one down under the center console. It could even be hidden by a little pop off plastic piece. This way anytime someone wants to install a very sturdy mount they can, and they don’t have to fiddle with tape, adhesives, little air vent clips and flippers, etc…
So I moved on from my Prius back in December. Picked up a '23 RAV4 Prime XSE. Same "problem" with this vehicle. No good spot to attach a phone mount to. The situation with the head unit is a little better though. Apple CarPlay is wireless without needing some dongle and it's very reliable.
