I have 2017 touring 4. Hubcaps look like garbage and I still have the peeling rear quarter panels. Thanks Toyota!
You can wrap your rear quarters and next time you need tires you could try to get a set of used 15' wheels. 15's will give you a better ride, a bit more MPG's and tires are less expensive.
I had a 2011, and a 2015 with 15” rims. I like the 17’s better. The silver inserts suck. All 4 look like that. I might order the black ones and change them out. I talked with someone about wrapping the 1/4 panels and they told me it won’t look good due to the peeling of the coating. Won’t be smooth.
That sucks. I haven't had the peeling issue yet on my 16. Just curious do you happen to use one of those automated car washes often? I'm also in SW Florida. Hopefully she's reliable which is why most of us bought into the Prius anyway.
I never use car washes. Mine gets hand washed only. The sun is brutal on the back side panels. I’ve seen several peeling away like mine have.
It's not just the wheels making the difference. In fact, they might have little effect. The third gen touring model has differences in the suspension and steering. I'm not sure of the details; do know the turning radius is increased. And have test drive both: touring felt "better". That's us, and when I change to 15" Michelin X-Ice wheels in winter, the feeling doesn't change.
