Any way of repairing or replacing the bushing on the wiper linkage? I think I have to replace the whole thing....it's hard to find and expensive. I was wondering if any other Toyota has replaceable bushings that could be substituted.
Gen 2 I've got an 05 assembly laying here in the bucket complete I don't think anything's wrong with it The plastic piece the trim I think is broke off but that piece just pops on and off so yours could go right on it but it had no problems at work great I took it off because I took the lot of the front end off the car but I have other gen 2 so I don't need to part with it telling you that there should be plenty of them around working fine
I think I could find one at a scrap yard, but they are more than half the price of a new one. Odd that new ones are so hard to find though.
Well I hope so how much are we talking at a scrap yard I would think 40 bucks I don't even know what they cost new there's only two or three little things on there that you can replace or knock off and move to another I'm not really understanding the big deal but I hope you get it straightened out That's why I was junky parts like this that tend to work a lot in some places I just throw an extra in the bucket Make sure I have it just in case You never know
This is in Canada. Dealer is over 500$...new Cardone is like 400...scrap is at least 100$....pull your own is cheaper, but far from here and often picked over. Cheapest new one is 170$ but no stock anywhere.
Oh my friend Dave soper of the old celica clubs lives in New Brunswick says parts are pretty bleak I used to come down and get stuff from my old celicas here in North Carolina. SM-A715F ?
I wouldn't have thought this would be a high-demand part to be stripped from Prius. It is not a part you hear of failing very often and not one where you would go to a yard and think, "I must get the wiper works off that Prius." $100 from a scrapper wouldn't seem too bad in the circumstance you describe. But that's just me, I go for the easy life.
Hmmm I think you are right. I wonder if snow has something to do with the failure. Although I noticed a lot of ice below the cowl...possibly due to poor drainage because of leaves.
I want to see what popped loose will either arm move if you move it? Maybe pass side will move other not . ? SM-A715F ?
I found one from a 2005 at a pick your own place. Got the linkage, motor and the connector between the linkage and motor (this part doesn't come with a new linkage....and mine was pitted from the wrecked bushing) all for 45$. I was able to put the arms back on properly on the first try....although I was worried I was over torquing the nuts on the passenger side (21 Nm) so I torqued them a little lower. My torque wrench could be out of alignment. It's fun to look at scrap prii and see what people have taken. Unfortunately there are only about 4 prii within driving distance....so it's not worth wasting time on. Seems like the tail latch trim is gone on everyone (something else I need to find).
