    Hello,

I have a 2011 Prius which has a fried inverter . Code 3004-800 is present and i have 0.0 ohm between inverter terminals where the hybrid battery cable should be connected.

Now, my inverter code is G9200-47140. As we all know, early generation Prius has a problem with this inverter and a TSB ( #0036 I think ) has been released to address this issue. I would like to replace my entire inverter with a better one. Can I fit another inverter ( from a 2017 Prius as an example ) which should have this inverter issue solved ? If yes, which inverter code can replace my G9200-47140 ?

    Thanks!

I think you'd need to stick with 3rd gen inverter. I see there are several parts numbers showing. Looking I saw one part number for 2015 model year, and for 2010 a couple of part numbers. Very confusing. Also, all of them are indicated as "product not available". Isn't there some laws about that, you need to continue to offer replacement parts for a reasonable period of years, say 15 at least?

None of the part numbers I saw match the one you mention, btw.

    2010 model year:

HV INVERTER. 2010 Toyota Prius Hatchback L HYBRID | Toyota

    part no's:

    G9200-49025
    G92A0-47030
    And then, replaced by:
    G92A0-47031

    2015 model year:

HV INVERTER. 2015 Toyota Prius Two HYBRID | Toyota

    part no:

    G9200-49075

Thank you very much for your replies. I didn't wanted to over complicate things as the car I'm actually having is a 2011 Toyota Auris.
I know this is not sold in US but the entire engine and transmission is identical with the one used in 2011 Prius ( 2009-2015 ).
The current inverter on the car is indeed G9200-47140. I've heard that G9200-47190 ( used in 2012-2018 Auris ) can be successfully used as a replacement for my unit with the benefit that it doesn't have the same prone to IGBT failure like early generation units ( 2009 - 2011 ).
Anyone heard something similar about this ?

I've just got the confirmation from a UK forum.
If you have an older inverter from 2009-2011 like I did ( code G9200-47140 ) you can replace it with the next generation inverter which is G9200-47190. The next generation inverter which has been used on cars from 2012 up to 2018 is a perfect fit in this case.
I hope this information will help someone at some point ;)

It looks like the newer version of the inverter didn't showed the same prone to failure ...

    Hello,

As an update, I've replaced my old 2011 inverter with an inverter from a 2017 car. That was a perfect fit and my car is now back alive :).

Last week I replaced the inverter (with help of mechanic) in a 2011 Prius Gen 3 (original part nr G920047140) with an inverter of Auris 2013 part nr G920047190. After clearing the error codes it works perfectly. If anyone get's in a similar situation I encourage doing the same (unless warranty applies).

Earlier this year I needed to replace the inverter on my 2010 model Prius, and I found an used Inverter from a 2012 - 2018 model Auris with a part number of G9200-47190 is compatible with the model year 2010-2015 Prius (part number G9200-47140). I confirm that this functions and after nearly six months it's still working without a hitch.
