I'm looking to install a MillerCat shield on my 2006 Prius. Is the following tool from AutoZone equivalent to theone they call "Rivet Nut Tool?" https://www.autozone.com/test-scan-and-specialty-tools/rivet-gun/p/oemtools-industrial-hand-riveter/291353_0?rrec=true
No, that is a standard blind rivet tool. It can't set rivet nuts. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Harbor Freight makes a good one. That’s what I used. 10 in. Professional Rivet Nut Setter Kit When you install the cat shield, take the cardboard box the shield comes with and slide it under your car. Then you’ll drill out a few holes under the car. After you drill out all the holes, slide the box out. Now when you complete the install, your back and hair won’t get covered in tiny metal shavings. Trust me.
Also, when you drill the holes in the rails under the car, use oil on your drill bit. It will keep the bit cooler and it will cut through the steel much faster. Overheating the bit can cause the bit to lose its temper and dull faster. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
