Hi there, I just bought a Toyota Aqua (S package) / Prius C model 2016. from Japanse auction. Its S package not sure if its Prius C1 or C2. It has multimedia steering. Now I want to install cruise control in it. I searched on youtube and only found video till 2014 model and I understand that the procedure for 2016 model is different than 2014 model. Anyone here what a walkthrough or a video to help me out? Also if install cruise control, can i used multimedia steering buttons to increase/decrease the speed during cruising? Also someone locally told me that if I install cruise control (aftermarket) it will damage my car in the long run. Is this true? please explain if yes.
As far as I know the One is the only version that did not have cruise from the factory. The One has a one-piece rear seatback instead of the 60/40 split folding seatbacks, that's usually the easiest way to tell. The factory cruise control is operated by way of an extra stalk on the steering wheel, right side low so I'm not sure how you'd repurpose keys on the wheel face. Rostra makes a kit for the c One. It's easy to suggest that an improper installation would cause damage but I don't know how someone would be able to back up a blanket statement that an aftermarket kit always causes problems. From other threads I got the idea that there may be a flaw in the installation instructions, but I bet you'd be able to get details with just a few searches. I've installed a Rostra cruise kit in our Hyundai and it included a new universal control stalk.
