I have a 2010 with 85000 mi. Three times in the last mo. after driving several mi. and stopping for 10 min. the car will not start. All dash lights come on but I cannot put it in gear! After several min. and repeated tries it will finely start. But,what a helpless feeling. !2 volt is good. No lights left on.???
You think you know that .....how, exactly ? AND make sure that your foot is firmly on the brake BEFORE pushing the button.
How old is your 12v battery? Your discription is typical of a battery failing. If it’s 5+ years old you might have it diagnostically tested. Your dash lights may illuminate but a weak battery won’t have enough to spin the traction motor.
The 12 volt battery doesn't spin the traction motor. I'm not saying I'm sure the 12 volt battery isn't behind the OP's problems. It just wouldn't be because it can't spin the traction motor.
I didn’t want to say, “Starter”. Just used the wrong word for the thingamajig that spins the engine over.
The 12 volt battery doesn't spin anything connected with starting the engine, called by any name, ever.
Just to pave over this pothole: The electrical motors within the transaxle start the engine crankshaft turning; they're powered by the hybrid battery, and the 12 volt battery's supplying electrons to various computers, relays, etecetera involved in orchestrating the start up. Everybody's needed though.
