when i go online to build and price out a 2007 prius touring edition on Toyota's website (zipcode 08901) the only option combination/package available is this:

    Option Combination #A $2,555
    - 50 state emissions (FE)
    - Package #3 -- includes Smart Key System [5], backup camera [11], Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) [4], anti-theft system and auto-dimming rearview mirror with HomeLink® [5] universal transceiver, and JBL® AM/FM 6-disc in-dash CD changer with nine speakers in seven locations, auxiliary audio jack, MP3/WMA playback capability, satellite radio capability [6] and hands-free phone capability via Bluetooth® [7] wireless technology, and High Intensity Discharge (HID) headlamps and integrated fog lamps [12] (HI)
    - Touring edition (TV)

now my question is it says it has a back-up camera but that it is only available with the nav system does that mean that the nav system is included? there isnt an option for the nav anywhere.

Looks like you need to order option package B for $5725 to get a Nav system. But both packages A and B have the backup camera.

so it is possible to get the back up camera without the nav system, if you go to the website and use the 08901 zipcode you will see there is no option package B thats what threw me off.

Different geographic areas have different packages available. When I bought my '06, I think only four packages were available in VA. It messed me up, too!

To me it's not a rant, it's a good question. I think it's part of their marketing strategy, they are trying to get people to buy options they don't want in order to get the things they do want. Also notice they change the packages around every year and give them different names and numbers. They aren't doing that to please the customers, they are doing it to make it difficult (or impossible) to make comparisons from years to year.

 Stangely, different areas provide different "package" options. Seems they're dependent on the Toyota Distributer Areas. If you are sufficiently curious, you could go to other areas and use "Build and Price your Toyota" on Toyota.com to see what other areas offer. You can "CREDIT" Toyota's "Distributer" system to this anomaly.

In a more extreme approach, you could purchase your Prius in another area which offers the combinations you prefer, fly and drive your Prius back home. California would be a problem since I've read that you would pay the California tax AND tax in your home state.

    :) Hi bobo69

Have you tried "Build and Price..." based on the zip code of your friend's area? I would think )(but really don't know) that Philly and Jersey would be in the same Distributer region implying that the Packages and Options would be the same.

    Just a thought...

Most dealers will be happy to arrange for free delivery of the car just across the state line, in Arizona, Nevada or Oregon, or even ship the car to another state for a fee, in order to avoid having to pay California's registration fees and sales tax.

Well, she just took delivery of an '07 base(non-touring) package #5 in magnetic grey at the dealer in her area for $750 over invoice (so i guess it is all water under the bridge now). To reply to Mr. Suitt, that was the problem when i tried to use different area codes neither one of them had what she was looking for, the build/price for her area was only a touring with option combo A and in my area they didn't even have the touring edition. i just dont under stand why they are so different for only being about 40 mi. apart.
