Hi everyone, My 2020 Prime XLE is getting around 45 MPG. 30k miles so far, new tire good tire pressure, oil change every 5000 miles. I'm not using AC or heat. Yet my milage is around 45 MPG. Does anyone have idea why my MPG dropped?
Have you checked air filter? Do you have any pets that ride in car? There is also HV Battery filters that should be checked too. Brakes or eBrake checked out?
I take care of my car well. New engine air filter, new cabin air fliter. I clean my traction battery air filter once a month. No pets in the car, I use Seafoam every oil change to clean the fuel injectors. And to ounces to clean the engine before my oil change as well. Even cleaned my intake mainifold, EGR, and throttle body at 25k miles. Before on the dash I was getting 55ish to 62 MPG on hybrid mode. Also my total range went from 525 miles on a full tank to 420 miles range on a full tank when I fill up.
Does it get cold in LA? My HV-only mpg for the same route dropped from 65mpg ~1month ago to ~50mpg just a few days ago when the temp dropped to teens F. I was getting ~35 miles of EV range from a full charge, but now, I am lucky if I can get 20 miles in my morning commute.
I guess you haven't heard the old adage; "If it ain't broke, don't mess with it". How did you clean the MAF sensor? You really shouldn't be exposing practically new sensors to those harsh chemical strippers. Those cleaning products you mentioned are designed to strip away carbon, varnish, and oil. Using 0w20 or 0w16 full synthetic oil with advanced detergents - accumulated buildup is minimal at best; especially if you've been keeping up with the OEM maintenance requirements. Your more likely to damage or shorten the life of those sensors. That's just my 2-cents; take it or leave it. Your mileage drop is more than likely weather and winter gas blend related; unless you threw off one of your sensors. The sensor may still be within range, otherwise it'll throw a code. Check all four wheels, you may have mechanical drag due to a frozen caliper slider pin.
