so I am looking for a 2 inch hitch that will fit my prius prime. Torklift makes one my they only list it from 2017 to 2020, not for 21 or 22 yet. Anyone know if there is any difference in the frame stuff that would make it so it would not fit a 2022?
I don't believe there were any substantial / structural changes between the years. 2020 had the 5 seat layout that has carried forward. Other changes were for android auto and minor things like that. I would recommend installing some Air Lift 1000 bags, if hanging any weight off that hitch - like a cargo box or bikes. The rear end sags with a full load of cargo even. The bags are a pretty easy DIY and cost effective. I had a set on my VW for 5-6 years and never any problems and kept the car from sagging when loaded down with heavy gear. Otherwise you'll lose precious ground clearance in the Prime and add headlight glare towards oncoming traffic. I'm perplexed why all modern cars still sag when you are simply loading them with their rated cargo capacity. I guess that most miles are single driver and second most, single passenger, so beefier rear springs would gather too many ride compliance complaints.
I'm interested in seeing your set up once installed. I'm contemplating on buying a Prime to REPLACE my 4runner due to fuel costs and MPG (and also going back into the office next month). Wife and I both MTB, so I would like to how much sagging there is when its loaded with two bikes!
