2015 Prius 2 - Jumped while putting into drive.

    Hello, I just bought this Prius with 75k miles on it. I have searched through the forums. Seen many threads about a jerk sensation but I swear this was more than that.

    The action and concern in order of occurrence:
    - Entered car
    - Foot on brake pedal
    - Pressed power button
    - Placed car into Drive
    - Immediate and significant “jump” sensation. Not just the ICE kicking on. It felt like the car hopped forward, like if ten strong people all pushed the rear bumper at once. Like if you were driving a manual sports car at freeway speeds and went up a gear and milked it to scare your passenger.

    Trusted nechanic signed off on the car prior to purchase. What on earth could that have been?

    (I’m well versed with the CVT transmission concept.)

    I’ve been calling it my Spaceship. I guess it really is one! It scared me, it felt like it wanted to launch itself.

    i'd tell you to try a new one to compare, but gen 4 are altogether different. prius do a lot of lurching and jumping after park is applied too. just the nature of the system.
    other than that, they are very smooth :cool:
