I would rather to exchange for newer model. In case I get audited, reason such as upgrade newer model for more advance safety feature sound suffice for the requirement to earn entire tax credit.

There is no time limit to hold a vehicle for with the current EV tax credit. Where do you see this 3 year thing?

I think the 3 years is for the State. This is the thread other members discussed about the credit.

2017 hypersonic red plus with 85k hood dent and grill crack $17565 from a bankruptcy auction in nj
I mostly see the cheapest 17 pp for like 22k here so seemed like a good deal. i'll take a hood dent for 5k savings.
hoping to find a red hood from a rear ended vehicle.. and grill or front end cover cheap

Newbie to the Prius world - was looking to replace my 2011 CT200H that was totaled, stumbled into a 2022 PP limited, mag grey with black interior, out the door after the $1500 rebate at $34,231 + tax. Had only been looking for around for two days and reached out to numerous dealers who told me they would be happy to take a deposit and maybe 4-6 months later would have a vehicle, found this one that someone had pre-ordered and then backed out at the last minute - swooped in and now it's mine - just drove it back north from Oregon and had it throwing 60+ MPG without any charge so all I can say is wow, far cry from my 42 in the lexus and TBH a much superior vehicle - now off to learn what to do with it.....

Yeah, saw that on Reddit. One person's theory is that it's just a way for the dealership to ensure their one demo model stays on the floor. Not that they actually expect to sell it for that.

I am leaning toward the theory of mistype $40,000.
At one time $4000 is a markup around here in Bay Area.
I believe the dealer had the right to refuse to sell, if they did this on purpose in order to not sell that car, it is pretty bad marketing.

Seems like they're getting a ton of free marketing, actually...

2022 Prius Prime XLE only $41703 at Roseville Toyota. I thought it was a typo, so I went to their website. No typo, $9,995 dealer markup.

I sure hope nobody pays that much. Crazy enough markup for a R4P let alone a PP. Scarcity of these cars is soon to be resolved as well - Toyota is getting back up to normal production levels soon.

One dealership I was looking at had over 120 cars. When I looked closer I found that they only had 12 new Toyotas on the lot. The rest were in transit. I was looking to upgrade before year end, but that appears difficult at this time. There simply are very few new Prius Primes left in the Pacific Northwest.

Mine should be ready next week! (Limited, MSRP) I'm excited but dreading car payments at the same time.

The crazy thing that was still going on in early 2021!

We got our LE in like Feb/March for ~$24.5k OTD in Southern California, with $1,000 back rom the state, plus $4,502 next year at tax time. It's crazy how fast things turned around.
