Is anyone else trying to live with a flakey Combo Meter?

Considering these OEM center-left vents were going for about $100 on ebay, I'm very tempted to purchase a couple of those aftermarket ones on Amazon to try them out. Be nice to have a couple on the shelf for when one gets destroyed.

Usually by what I see for the $100 or just a little less I'm getting a whole set of four that are unbroken generally speaking and that's what I'm staring at right now I have not seen the fakes but I imagine if there anything like the corolla door handles interior and exterior they'll be reasonable at least they're newer plastic albeit cheap plastic

yeah, it sucks because your mileage is not recorded while the odo is not displaying - i ordered the caps from online they were less than $10 but took weeks to arrive .. the dash is not bad once you've done it but the 1st time well 1st time like anything , 1st time riding a bike , etc ... loss of cruise is a bitch too ..

soldering was not bad if you are used to soldering, u take the leads of the cap, put a 90 degr or so bend so they can touch the pad nicely away from the cap and u can solder carefully .. (easier said than done) ...
prob. want a nice clean area , distraction free (ie dont attempt to do this with some cyring babies and all that goes with that) .. if u have any soldering skills, u should bee able to save your self $100 .. and keep your unit because otherwise another unit willnot have your mileage , unless u have them program it ?

I just did this repair on my instrument panel a few days ago. Replacing the capacitor is easy, if you know how to solder. I'm not an expert, but had it done in a few minutes. I used a 220uF capacitor to replace the 100uF one. Works great!

But now my dash trim is destroyed. The trim crumbled to pieces when I tried to remove it.

The aftermarket Chinese vent trim is pretty decent. It isn't made from the ABS kind of plastic but something more flexible. I will just have to wait and see how long it stays looking good.

My first problem with Amazon vent is that it says "Fit for Prius 2004-2009".

    2004-2005 part number is 55670-47040
    2006-2009 part number is 55670-47060

They are not the same. They are not interchangable. The black cover that is above the steering wheel will not engage properly with the left side of the vent if it is the wrong part number.

I would assume most people have a 2006-2009 since the sales fo® 06-09 were much higher cumulatively than for those years vs 04/05, and the amazon thing is probably for those 06-09 years so for most people it wont be a problem. But people should be aware.

Most folks know it's 04 to 06 and 06 to 09 other than that you should be in pretty good shape with most of your trims and interior pieces You do kind of need the right piece just because they look the same doesn't make them the same they look similar That's why those dates exist and those cut off numbers and what not they make a difference of course I'm used to this from way back in the '70s and what have you when all those 11 to 16 digits meant something

I guess because I wasn't aware of any difference it fit my car. Good thing I installed it before looking up part numbers. I thought for $21, it was worth a try. It is a bit tight but showed no signs of fragility and it looks fine.

Happy wife happy life. I paid the $150 to Texas Hybrid batteries and swapped it out myself. Best money and time I spent on her car. Buy once and cry once.
