I got this message. I allowed it to update. And it introduced Alexa into the mix. the Entire app stopped being useful and I was directed to use the Toyota App - which was completely useless!
One of my favorite parts of the Prius is how easy it is to bypass all this nonsense. I purchased a wireless CarPlay adapter, which is connected to the USB port at all times. I used double-sided tape to affix it to the center console; you can’t even see it. Every time I get in the vehicle, I plop my iPhone on the wireless charger. Within 20 seconds or so CarPlay is on the screen. I never see any of the Toyota infotainment stuff.
Yeah I’m not exactly sure how to use the Toyota app there is nothing about the radio or anything at all. iPhone ?
I got this one. https://cplay2air.com/products/cplaystreamer-wireless-adapter-for-factory-carplay-android-auto-module-and-mirror-link-feature?gclid=Cj0KCQiAhMOMBhDhARIsAPVml-GezlJR7YmjoHTlBeQVumJQPpuZOf3bx_ZSk6mcaSEHnhuF1h4qduYaArXSEALw_wcB
Oh cool! I should get that!! iPhone ? So this worked on your Prius with the stock radio? What year is your Prius? iPhone ?
I had Alexa before, but yes, the Toyota App has nothing new and takes away features. With Entune I could look up a location, then in my car it would show up in 'saved locations' and be transferred to the Navigation. Now the only way to enter an address is in the car app itself, which is a painful way to enter addresses. I guess maybe we are supposed to use Alexa. Meanwhile, it looks like the only purpose of the 'new' Toyota App is to provide the Bluetooth to Internet link for your car and to do maintenance and Sirius sign-ups.
