Apologies in advance if this is a painfully noob-ish question... Does anyone have the specs for the drive cycles required for the 2012? Replaced the 12v battery right before taking it in for a smog test, and ran in to that issue.
i don't think so. i would guess it's more of a state mandate than toyota. i did not think 12v disconnection erased obd data
In many states, the pollution authority checks the computer's error codes to detect poorly operating engines. Scammers then started disconnecting the computers to temporarily clear the codes so they could erroneously pass the emissions test. As a result, many agencies will not pass your car if you have not driven some distance since disconnecting the 12 volt battery. Here is a page from Georgia's pollution authority. Georgia's Clean Air ForceGeorgia's Clean Air Force It discusses changing your battery, but does not give an exact distance you must drive. Another answer, that I don't think you are actually asking, is how the car must be driven to pass EPA testing:. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/FTP-75
If you have an OBDII scanner you can check the "emissions readness" status with the Torque app or similar tools. I don't know about the Prius specifically, but my experience with another Toyota of similar age, it usually required at least two cold starts and driving maybe 30 miles or so before everything would be "complete".
