Hey friends, Trying to get the steering rack out of my 2010. It’s all disconnected. Trying to slide it out through the transmission bottom mount. I have removed the 2 bolts and the 2 nuts for the bottom mount but when I jack up from the transmission slowly, the engine doesn’t release from the frame. It’s like something else is holding it. What am I missing? Could the mount be frozen to the frame? I tried banging around but it won’t release. I’m dead in the water until I can get this mount to jack upwards. Thanks guys!
Is the big long bolt that holds the exhaust down pipe to the engine loose . I believe the exhaust may be holding it down I don't know whether you need to undo the downpipe or whether it is attached with a bracket to the frame I can't remember on the gen 3 SM-A715F ?
Thanks for the replies guys. Mendel, anything in the service manual showing how exactly engine/trans are mounted to the frame? tombukt2, not seeing any large exhaust bolt. Any more specifics? Thanks!
It holds the downpipe to a bracket that's on the engine I think when that's undone the engine can cock and move a little bit while still connected to the exhaust manifold I have to crawl up under my persona and take a look I'm about to pull the engine out of it SM-A715F ?
Got it. 2 more bolts than I thought under hood passenger side. 3 total. Phew! Man steering rack replacement sucks. Thanks for the help guys!
