So I'm planning to get a set of coilovers for my gen4. I've had many cars before but never really did the transition to coilovers, usually just lowering springs. But with the prius, I want it to be as comfortable as possible as I do lots of traveling now. I want it as smooth as possible. Or as smooth as I can get with a 1.4-1.5 in drop. I do not plan to slam the car, tires tuck, or anything like that but want to reduce the fender gap while maintaining an almost luxurious ride (or as close as we can get with these econo-buckets). I'd rather get a set-it-and-forget-it kind of kit. The Tein Flex-Z looks like they might do the trick but they don't seem that expensive so makes me wonder if it's one of those instances where "you get what you pay for" kind of thing. Other options I saw were Blitz, Cusco, RSR. I really have no experience with any kinds of coilovers so not sure with what I should go with. I'm currently on Tein H. Coilovers get you the drop and the cornering but the price of admission is a direct naked sacrifice of comfort, and I've never seen a set that didn't benefit from many hours of testing and adjusting. I would never say impossible, but oh man you picked a tough challenge! I'll be following to see where it goes. Good luck!

Consider buying secondhand, a lot of guys try coilovers on street cars, drive a week and pull them back off so there is usually a healthy market of barely-used parts.
Tein Flex A is the way to go! It’s Tein’s latest Coilovers - Rides better then stock without the harshness of the Flex Z

Also, mine is the ZVW55. A lot of these manufacturers make specific sets between the regular prius, the awd, and the prime. From what I've seen, the ones for the prime and awd models are interchangeable. In the US, there isn't much support between the different models. Yes. I did pick up those Flex A coilovers. They are super super comfortable and I'm on the lowest setting. They feel more controlled on uneven surfaces which was my only gripe with the lowering springs. You can control how stiff or soft you want the dampening so it helps out a lot. With the lowering springs, it wasn't uncomfortable by any means but the bumps were a little jarring. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.

Nice. What model prius do you have? There are some specific ones for the prime and awd models. I love them because they had the softest spring rate and the most drop, second only to the RSR I-blacks. RSRs have more drop and but a stiffer spring. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.

Hey, i wanted to get this coilover kit too but i wanted to combine it with 1.5 inch lift kit. I need to replace my shocks soon and would like to make prius drive more comfortable and not bottom out on stuff anymore. what do you think?
edgod: Take a look at CEIKA coilovers. They have lift coilovers. I installed some on my Prius C and I really like the ride.
I think the better option if you want to lift it would be just to go with a set of Twin EnduraPro shocks and struts for about $550. They ride amazingly, much more comfortable than stock and handle much better. Be warned they are noticeably bigger, so the front dust sleeves won't fit.
