Same here in BC; I’d say Primes easily outnumber regular 4th gen Prius. Seeing an early year 4th gen Prius with the fang tail lights roll by, looking vaguely like something escaped from Disney World, is rarer, draws my attention.
Same here. By a significant margin. The 6500$ subsidy in QC goes a long way towards tipping the scale to Primes.
The government runs ads on TV and radio about the existence of the subsidies. Any dealership that sells a subsidy eligible BEV/PHEV will do 80-90% of the “paperwork” for the subsidy and it is always (and transparently) deducted at the moment of sale. While not everyone knows the specifics, pretty much everyone in Quebec knows that “cars with plug-in” get thousands off the retail price. The subsidies overlap but are identical. Fed subsidies are not applicable to BEV/PHEVs with a base MSRP over 45000$, while the QC ones apply up to 60,000$ MSRP. Feds offer 2500$ to applicable PHEVs and 5000$ for applicable BEVs. QC offers 4000$ and 8000$ respectively. My Prime got 6500$ off the final, after tax, price. A Bolt would get 13000$ off.
Doesn’t BC have a $1500 incentive for plug-in vehicles like Prime? This is in addition to the $2500 from the feds, for a total of $4000. Go Electric Passenger Vehicle Rebates - Province of British Columbia I miss the days when Ontario had the best rebates - up to $14K - but the Conservatives canceled that a few years ago (2018?) “to give money back to everyone by lowering gas by $0.10/L”, LOL. That vanished overnight. So how are we at $1.50/L now exactly? ). All we get now in Ontario is the $5k federal EV rebate, or $2500 for shorter range PHEVs like PP. But better than nothing, I guess. We did receive a generous rebate when purchasing the Leaf back in 2016 (I believe is was $12,500 at the time, plus a rebate on the L2 as well), and it was a seamless process, the rebate was taken off at time of purchase. Good times.
I've got to admit my "awareness" of incentives is purely what falls in my lap; haven't heard anything, but haven't gone looking. Could well be.
I live in a very large retirement community in Florida. We've had our PP one month and I have only seen one other PP. Tesla - I see a dozen or more daily. We have more than a few charging stations and most of them are empty when I go by them. Ha, we even have two free ones in front of a Kohl's department store.
