Inverter pump replacement according to dealer.

I am a owner of a 2010 Prius Five.

I do not have a problem sending the car to my local dealer for maintenance because these cars treats you so right mile after mile and I have no problem paying premium over local independent mechanic.

I brought my Prius in yesterday for 120,000 mile service and wanted major service done on it including inverter and transmission fluid replacement as well as a tuneup etc. etc.

My question is, is that I got a phone call from the service manager that stated that my inverter pump has seized and needs replacement to the tune of about $600 more in parts and labor (ouch).

Three days before I brought it in, I always check fluid levels and when I opened the inverter reservoir cap with engine on,the inverter fluid was roiling and gurgling fine and I could hear the inverter pump operating.
So my question is, if the inverter pump seized within those three days and about 150 miles of driving within those three days would the POC 073 code be thrown? Or could the car be able to drive from many more miles with the seized pump without overheating indicators?

 

That video looks like it was for the gas engine water pump, not the inverter pump.

aren’t they two different things?
