My son just bought a 2009 Prius a month ago. And now the abs, break and another light came on. Had it towed to Prius dealership they found no codes and says their guess is the actuator may be bad. There was no noise or warning it was going out. He did accidentally put some power steering fluid (about 2 ounces) into the inverter tank I think it was. Is it worth getting the inverter flushed out to see if that's the problem. Any help appreciated
Not a flush but definitely drained and refilled. If the 2009 (2nd Gen) like like ours (4th Gen), you might as well have coolant and invertor coolant replaced, they are right next to each other and both take Toyota Long Life Coolant. (Should be drained and refilled every 5-years.)
What is a "Prius dealership"? Is that Toyota? Because if there were ABS warning lights, there definitely should be codes. And I don't think steering fluid in coolant would cause that ABS warning. The "Prius dealership" might be on to something about the brake actuator, best to confirm by reading the codes. It could get expensive....
Yes it is a Toyota dealership. They said they tried to get a code to appear but no luck. And that since no codes appear they couldn't guarantee that it is really bad and a new one would repair the problem.
