Does anybody know the actual physical location of the2011 ABS accumulator relay? My hybrid mechanic has been working with several contacts at Toyota and his hybrid contacts and they cannot figure out where this relay is? They have replaced the accumulator with a new one and they say something, a pump? Is not getting power now? I will post the codes from a previous mechanics snap on scanner, my dash lights at this time there was also a loud audible beeping sound and the brakes were very hard to stop the car, and the results of my tech stream health check. All of this was recorded BEFORE the hybrid mechanic replaced the accumulator now he seems to be stuck trying to locate a relay.
I’m not sure there is such a thing, at least known by that name in Toyota’s service publications. If you mean to refer to the relays that might be involved in DTC C1253/53, “Pump Motor Relay Malfunction,” one of the codes in the list seen in your photo, they are the three motor relays for the brake booster pump. These relays are built into the skid control ECU, which itself is a part of the brake booster with master cylinder assembly under the hood. In Toyota’s procedures, if any of these relays is faulty, the complete master cylinder assembly is replaced; they’re not like the plug-in relays elsewhere on the car. See the description and diagrams under “Electronically Controlled Brake System” in the Repair Manual, available by subscription to techinfo.toyota.com and in the ChiltonLibrary service, to which many public libraries sponsor access. The Repair Manual also has a detailed troubleshooting procedure for DTC C1253. If the brake booster pump was faulty and has been replaced, the problem might now be only a blown fuse, for example.
Hi,my prius v has got the same codes, did you manage to repair yours?what procedure did you use?thanks Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
The best procedure to follow will be what's in the repair manual, because even when two cars give the same code, the cause of the code may be different. Starting from the code, the workup procedure in the manual will lead you to discover the cause.
