I have 2013 Prius C one and am considering to change the radio. I was looking into purchasing a used head unit from 4 and swaping that way and adding a camera. Has anyone done this? If yes, could you give some advice? I've decided to go with the original head unit as it would most likely be retaining all the original functionalities (Bluetooth, aux, steering wheel controls, built in mic) and would be easier to install.
yes there is a pretty long thread about htis on the forum already. I have done it, notes: 1. Make sure you get the "pig tail" wire harness that goes from the navigation mounted under the readio to the radio 2. You will need to supply 12v switched power to the #1 pin on the 28 pin connector or the car energy info won't show up 3. I don't think the backup video wire is present in your vehicle so you might want to run an aftermarket system and you might need an adapter to plug into the back of your radio for that which i think is under 10 bucks. i think i got a set of 2 for under 10 bucks actually from ebay. 4. Don't forget to get the voice command button for the steering wheel 5. Make sure you get a GPS antenna if you get a nav unit... which i think you should, adds value to the car. 6. don't assume the touchscreen has nav built in , verify that it does if that's what you want. 7. You may need the donor vin number if you want to use the etune/apps features or whatever that was..
If you are near DC i might be able to sell you mine, i'm planning on picking up a c4 and don't need it anymore and will put my c2 radio back in the c2
