I have a new 2022 Prius Prime LE and I am trying to enable Remote Connect. I have it working and it shows the Odometer and Fuel Status but under Remote Services If I touch Start all I get is a Climate setting. Moreover, when I click Turn on now, it says "Contacting vehicle" and after a minute or so, it seems to time out with "The climate system could not be started at this time." Also, I don't see any other remote service (e.g., start the car or lock/unlock doors). are these features limited to higher models?
What another helpful poster here mentioned is that the remote climate control only works on Max settings. Max cool, max heat, etc. I tried setting it at max cool and amazingly the A/C turned on. The other models don't even have remote services so we're at an advantage with the LE model even though we can't unlock
That is not true. All three models LE, XLE, Limited has the Connected Service allowing some remote control on Climate Control only. However, the LE model is at an advantage in that it is the only model of three trims that has Android Auto connectivity capability as well as WiFi Connect functionality. XLE and Limited trims equipped with the different head units do not support AA nor WiFi Connect currently. Of note just in case some didn't know this fact, the remote climate control can be used only if the car has sufficient charge in the traction battery. Using it with a full blast A/C will reduce the charge and the EV range.
Thank you for the clarification What I meant was there are some connected features that only the LE has according to this thread: 2021 Prius Prime LE vs. XLE Remote Connect Question | PriusChat I don’t have an XLE or Limited to compare to
I do have 2021 PP Limited, but I can't compare it. I don't even have the Toyota App installed on my phone. I have no intention of installing it. In fact, calling Toyota to opt-out from the Safety Connect which came with the car activated is on my To Do list. In any case, the only documented Remote Connect functionality available on Prius Prime (all three trims) is the "Remote Climate Only". Any other functionalities such as car status, tire pressure, etc are undocumented functionality working only on the LE model, but I think they are actually a glitch in the software. The type of bugs that in this case are giving an added value to LE owners. As most software engineers want to call the bugs "features".
