I have a question regarding prius headlights. I want to change my halogen headlight to xenon headlights. Would it be as simple as just buying the xenon headlights and connecting them without any trouble? And can i buy 2012 model lights? The reason i want to change them is prius halogen lights are rubbish and HID kits are not allowed in Estonia(Europe)
Yes, those 'xenon' type bulbs just swap in like normal bulbs and are still halogen. They tend to be whiter than the stock bulb and if you get a good one, it should be a bit brighter too. I have found that when installing replacement H11 bulbs, it easiest to insert the bulb first, then attach the connector/wire.
PS, I currently run these: Philips H11 CrystalVision Ultra Headlight Bulb, Pack of 2 : Amazon.com : Automotive I'm fairly happy with them, definitely brighter than stock and seems to be a pure white output.
Thank you for your answer! but i was thinking if i could change the whole headlight itself. There are two types on headlights for toyota prius, the one where you put halogen bulbs in and the other one which is ment for xenon bulbs. I wanted to ask if i can just change the halogen headlight to the xenon headligh
Xenon headlight Halogen Maybe now it's easier to understand what i mean. At the moment i own the halogen one and i want to replace it with xenon one.
Those look like LEDs, not Xenon. Xenon is HID anyway which you said is illegal in your country. I think it's possible to swap in an Prius LED headlight assembly but it requires some custom wiring. It's not just a plug and play swap in.
The LED headlight conversion is really expensive. I have done the H11 to H9 halogen bulb upgrade and am quite happy with the increased light output of the 65w H9 vs the 55w H11 bulbs: H11 to H9 Headlight Bulb Conversion | PriusChat The H9 bulbs, even premium German made ones like Osram and Philips are inexpensive. H9 does provide much more lumens compared to H11 (2100 vs 1350). I used that for a couple months until I decided to go real HID and installed rx350s. Unfortunately you can't use HIDs which is a shame. Output is amazing!
194 for incandescent bulbs, there are several equivalent sizes for LED like T10. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
You can look up the sizes and types of all the lights on Sylvania.com Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
I usually do that and suggest to others on the Sylvania website it seemed vague nothing really specific on that particular bulb because headlight on this specific Prius is uncommon. either that or I’m getting really lazy in my old age.
It might also be worth looking in the Specifications / Light Bulbs section of your owner's manual. It might say something like a 5 watt wedge-base bulb (W5W). Looking for near-replacements at the local auto parts store might turn up 194 types and 168 types. They should both fit in the socket. 194 bulbs are rated 3.8 watts and 168 bulbs are 4.9 watts, I think.
