Hello everyone! Sorry if this is a silly topic, but I am a newbie and hope to be a owner of a Prius in the next few weeks. Tomorrow I have an appointment with a private seller here in California and his vehicle has a HOV sticker. How can I check to make sure the HOV sticker is tied to the VIN? Thanks! -Matt
They should have the paper that came with the stickers, which shows the VIN number of the car, I think it also has the license number, I'll have to check.
I am not sure how one would end up with stickers that were not intended for their car. When my back bumper was damaged and had to be re-painted, I tried to remove the original HOV sticker on it. As soon as you start to remove it, the words VOID become visible all across it. So, if it is on the car, it likely was issued to the car. But the final confirmation is the card that comes with the stickers that one keeps in the car. I requested replacement stickers from DMV and had them with-in 10 days, cost me an additional $8 to get then new ones.
