Not sure if this is the proper place to ask this but the forums are pretty active and would know way more than me. Q: What is a good backup camera that will work with a 2012 Prius C Three? Where can I have it installed and how much will it cost? I've done a little bit of research. On amazon they have a ton of different "universal" backup cameras, but they all seem to be self install. I have no experience with car electronics really and don't want to ruin anything. Plus my car has an entire system that I'd like to link it to and display on. Since amazon was slightly out, I looked at best buy. When I contacted support, they couldn't give me an answer on install cost or if it was included. They also didn't verify if any of theirs would be compatible with my car. Any help would be great! Thank you
I believe there are a few Prius owners who live in your neck of the woods who may be able to assist. This is a popular item, and it is tricky to install. Something to do with the Prius having a volt difference and not working without some type of modification. If you go to the Gen III section and look for "accessories" you can type in "reverse camera" and you should find a complete thread on this. I would take your time.
Have you considered looking for a good used model 5 or 6 years newer that already HAS the camera ? That's what I did......but not for that reason alone.
I'll try and see what they say. I don't think I'll attempt installing it myself. I don't know enough about cars. I just bought my current Prius C back in March. I traded in a 2013 Scion TC release edition for it. The spec of the car exactly what I want too, grey exterior and a white interior. So I don't think I'll be trading again anytime soon. Thank you though
