decent headlight lamp replacement? (high and low both out passengers side 2012 prius v)

Searched a lot of headlight threads and folks seem to be most focused on performance upgrades. i'm not dissatisfied with the OEM performance myself. I'm not even sure the bulbs are bad because why would both of them go at once. I pulled the low beam and as i'm twisting it out of its mount, both of them go on and doesn't appear to be bad filaments jarred into contact and still working after 10 mile trip to the market. so not sure if it could have been plug resistance. the assembly doesn't look particularly dirty. and i assume its wire fed ground into a plastic frame so not a question of poor ground contact.

but now that i've gotten this far looking into it, for future reference I've found numerous plug and play LED replacements that have the drivers built onto the aft end of the bulb unit so don't even constitute a 'kit' from what I can see. I can see that the directional characteristics of the LED replacement bulbs together with the response of the geometry of the mount and lens don't seem to give as appropriately focused a spread and reach of light as the halogens. Theoretically they would be longer life although hard to complain if a replacement halogen lasted even half of what the OEM bulbs did.

Just wondering if the LED experience is improving in terms of plug and play performance such that they offer good straight up replacemnt, good lamp life and efficient lumens?
