Hello. Today while checking my son’s Prius engine fluids for a long trip, I noticed his intake manifold is missing one bolt. Not sure how this happened. My local hardware store did not have any metric bolt that could be matched. Do you know what is the right bolt that goes in here? I probably can order it online. Thank you for your help.
You can probably get the bolt at any Toyota dealer for a couple bucks, that is the EGR Pipe in the picture.
At your Toyota dealer it is a 91551-80616, but it's also a bog-standard M6 if I recall correctly; no idea why the local hardware didn't have 200 of them.
Don’t gamble; get the Toyota part no bolt. That’s not intake manifold bolt btw; it’s at the joint between Exhaust Gas Recirculation pipe* and valve. It’s on this page, the part no @ChapmanF posted: Exhaust gas recirculation system for Toyota Prius 3 generation, restyling 12.2011 - 11.2015 - Toyota Car & Auto Spare Parts - Genuine Online Car Parts Catalogue - Amayama * For the record, Toyota refers to the “cooler” as the “pipe”, but yeah.
What I would do? Get a generic bolt and swap it out for one in a non-critical location, like securing a harness bracket. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
I would accept just about any odds that an M6 bolt from the local Tru-Value will keep that pipe elbow from falling off that manifold.
The bolt is J.I.S. (Japan Industrial Standard) M6x1.0x16mm in length with a 10mm hes washer flange head. I have over 50 of them in my supply of spare parts. I've seen them in the drawers at Home Depot in ISO 8.8 grade, which is what Toyota uses for this application. 20mm length will work just fine, since they are through bolts. Mine are 10.9 grade which is higher, but not necessary.
