Hi all, While doing a little check up, I checked the battery fan filter near the back seat (passenger side). Strangely, there is NO filter there. My assumption is that the previous owner took it out and never replaced it. How bad do you think the fan will be? I've had issues with MPG loss lately, could this be part of it? Also - I am ordering the battery filter from ebay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/184882965378?fits=Submodel%3ABase%7CYear%3A2011%7CEngine+-+Liter_Display%3A1.8L%7CModel%3APrius%7CMake%3AToyota%7CTrim%3ABase+Hatchback+4-Door%7CEngine%3A1.8L+1798CC+110Cu.+In.+l4+ELECTRIC%2FGAS+DOHC+Naturally+Aspirated&epid=658660061&hash=item2b0be22b82:g:ywkAAOSwSpVgw4g~ Thanks, Rob
Maybe your 2011 didn’t come with a filter? Our 2010 CDN spec didn’t have one, fwiw. I wouldn’t put all my chips on that filter; you want to dig down to and clean the fan periodically. And the associated ductwork.
yes, toyota added that filter sometime after the beginning of gen 3. unless your carrying shedding animals all the time, no biggie
Gen2 have no filters and if you don't have furry pets and keep your car clean the fan will be clean even after 200K miles.
thanks all for the info - ordered a filter off of ebay, all good. Paranoia about buying a used car....
How many miles on it? My 2012 didn’t come with one either, but my fan at 140k was pretty clogged up and I don’t have pets and usually driving by myself. It’s a very easy job and there’s plenty of DIY videos. It will extend the life of your HV battery.
